    The Russell School

The PTA is the Parents and Teachers Association, a charitable organisation which organises both social and fundraising events at The Russell School. Parents, staff and governors work together to purchase items that the school would otherwise be unable to provide.

Who is a member of the PTA?
As the parents of a child at The Russell School, you are automatically members of the PTA. We have a committee of willing volunteers including a Chair, a Secretary and a Treasurer. Our AGM is held in the autumn term and, like all PTA meetings, it is open to all parents to attend. Every year, our constitution states that we should elect a new Chair so roles are often available. We also have parent representatives for each class who help to organise class stalls, class cake sales and help with whole school events. Please get involved and stay up to date by registering on the Russell School PTA Events site here.

What do we do as the PTA?
Our main focus is to raise funds for the school to purchase equipment or facilities that it could otherwise not afford. Over the last few years we have funded an amazing custom-built tree fort, new playground toys and play equipment for Key Stage 2, alongside smaller projects such as contributing to special weeks in school, such as Science Week and the Artist in Residence. Our main fundraising events are the Christmas Fair and the Summer Family Fun Day. We also have other great events throughout the school year, such as themed discos for the children, parents’ social evenings and the Welcome Back Event. The PTA also provides refreshments at school events such as Sports Day.

What are we currently working towards?
Our next big project is to raise money to further develop the remaining play spaces around our new building.

What can I do to get involved in the PTA?
As little or as much time as you can offer is greatly appreciated. We are always looking for new committee members and you can join the PTA at any point during the year, this involves attending as many meetings as you can and supporting our major fundraising and social events.

Our parent representatives help out on an ad-hoc basis, managing specific tasks such as running an event or helping out on a stall. If you have a particular skill that could help then fantastic but, equally, if you can make tea, count money or move furniture then we would also be delighted to welcome you.

The school greatly recognises parents' contributions to the PTA, from helping in the classroom, baking cakes or donating something to the tombola. Without this help, we would find it more challenging to meet the needs  of our school community and we thank you for your support.

What is the up to date PTA news?
We have lots of exciting events planned for this year; just ask a member of the PTA and get involved.

Thank you to all of our generous sponsors!
The PTA couldn’t do it without the generous support of businesses and individuals in the community and beyond. Here is a list of some of the businesses who kindly supported us, whether through a raffle prize donations, their time and expertise, or other fundraising efforts. An enormous thank you from all of us!
