As visitors enter The Russell School grounds, one of the first things they notice is the amount of space we are fortunate to have. Set within more than three acres, our extensive grounds provide children with varied opportunities to learn, play, explore and be active.

We are committed to making creative use of our outdoor environment. Our playing fields, playgrounds, covered areas and green spaces are used for PE, outdoor learning, science, art, wellbeing activities and opportunities to explore the natural world. Our pond, wildlife habitats and allotment areas also give children the chance to observe, investigate and care for their surroundings.

Inside, our classrooms are light, spacious and welcoming. Staff work hard to create calm, purposeful and inclusive environments where children feel a strong sense of belonging. Displays celebrate achievement while supporting current learning, and classrooms are organised to help children become increasingly confident and independent.

Children also benefit from a large hall with gymnastics equipment and a sprung floor, a dedicated Food Technology Kitchen and a well-stocked library.

We continue to think creatively about how every part of our site can be used, with the aim of providing a stimulating, inclusive and flexible environment that supports children academically, socially and emotionally - both indoors and outdoors.
