    The Russell School

Year Three is the first year of Key Stage Two.

In Year Three we begin to develop into really independent learners. This is the first year of Key Stage Two and we will spend the next four years developing our skills ready for the move to secondary school in Year Seven.

We are taught many new things in Year Three, from new mathematics to key historical facts, and we work really hard to make a good start to this important Key Stage.

Our hard work is all taught through our very exciting Imaginative Learning Projects:

PREDATOR

Learn about creepy crocs and amazing alligators, the deadly assassin bug and the voracious Venus fly trap. Be inspired to write all about your favourite predator then use what you know about the best of beasts to create the ultimate predator.

GODS AND MORTALS

Discover a fantastical world full of mythical creatures and legendary heroes. Explore the terrains of Ancient Greece then decide your own fate when a mysterious box is found and stirs your curious mind. What could be inside…?

TREMORS

Discover the dangerous and ferocious world of natural disasters and glimpse their savage and deadly effects. Visit the ancient city of Pompeii then create your own blistering explosions from model volcanoes that fire foamy lava…

TRIBAL TALES

Head back to prehistoric times to gather berries and hunt down dinner. Unearth ancient objects and visit astonishing mystical monuments that reveal the secrets of an ancient time. Work as a tribe to build a monument – what tribal tales will you have to tell?

URBAN PIONEERS

Hop on the bus and take a trip downtown, where the lights are bright and every street has a story to tell. Explore the art of the city, make a map of your hometown and find out how things have changed. Has time changed the town for the better? How could you improve your urban environment?

EMPERORS AND EMPIRES

What was life like in Roman Britain? Head back to Roman Britain and find out about the history and structure of Ancient Rome and the Roman Empire including an exploration of the Romanisation of Britain.
