Year Five is an exciting year in Upper Key Stage 2, where children are encouraged to become increasingly independent, responsible and confident learners.

Across the curriculum, children explore a wide range of engaging topics and deepen their knowledge and understanding through discussion, investigation, research and practical experiences. History is a particular strength, with opportunities to learn about significant people, periods and events, supported wherever possible by visits to local places of interest such as Hampton Court Palace.

A major highlight of Year Five is our annual residential visit to Sayers Croft. Children take part in a range of outdoor and adventurous activities which help to develop teamwork, resilience, independence and confidence, as well as creating some very memorable experiences together.

Throughout the year, we continue to prepare children for the increased responsibilities and expectations of Year Six, while ensuring that learning remains enjoyable, purposeful and appropriately challenging.

Above all, we want Year Five to be a year in which children grow in confidence, embrace new experiences and feel proud of the progress they make.
