Year Four is an important part of Lower Key Stage 2, where children continue to build their confidence, independence and knowledge across the curriculum.

Learning is designed to be engaging, purposeful and increasingly challenging, with opportunities for children to investigate, collaborate, solve problems and apply what they know in different contexts.

A real highlight of the year is our overnight stay at Thames Young Mariners, which gives children the opportunity to develop independence, teamwork, resilience and confidence through new experiences away from the classroom.

We also encourage children to develop a stronger sense of responsibility within the school and the wider community. Through local links, enrichment opportunities and shared experiences, children begin to think more deeply about the part they can play in supporting others and contributing positively to the world around them.

Throughout the year, we continue to develop the skills and independence that will support children as they move into Upper Key Stage 2.

Above all, we want Year Four to be a year in which children embrace new challenges, grow in confidence and feel proud of what they achieve.
