In Reception, we provide a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment where children can settle happily into school life and develop a strong foundation for future learning.

Children learn through a balance of purposeful play, exploration and carefully planned teaching. Our indoor and outdoor environments offer opportunities to create, investigate, communicate, problem-solve and develop confidence and independence.

We encourage children to be curious, resilient and enthusiastic learners who are willing to have a go, ask questions and explore the world around them. Alongside early reading, writing and maths, we place great importance on children’s personal, social and emotional development, helping them to build positive relationships, communicate effectively and grow in independence.

We work closely with families and with our Nursery team to support children through this important stage of their education and to ensure a positive transition into Key Stage 1.

Above all, we want our Reception children to feel happy, secure, valued and excited about learning.
