    The Russell School

There are 30 children in Year Five and you will find them upstairs in our beautiful, new building.

In Year Five, the theme based Imaginative Learning Projects are very exciting. We learn about exciting events in history, such as the Titanic and the Black Death and investigate the fascinating lives of the Tudors. These projects are supported by local trips to museums as well as to Hampton Court Palace.

Year Five are very lucky to be a part of a local gardening project in which the children walk to Ham House each month and tend the school's allotment, learning all about plants and how to grow their own food.

Year Five are also lucky enough to have students from The German School visit each week to teach the children how to speak German. This is usually done through song and various games to engage their memory.

The most anticipated trip of the year is without doubt the Year Five residential to Sayers Croft in November, where the children will be climbing walls, building shelters and using a compass to find their way out of the woods. But, most importantly, learning how to properly make a bed and repack a suitcase!
